Will prepare for upcoming tournaments during camp: Graham Reid

New Delhi, 3 January (IANS) The Indian men’s hockey team’s head coach Graham Reid has said that the team will prepare for the upcoming tournaments during the national camp starting on Tuesday after a three-week break.

“I hope the players have returned mentally and physically after a break of three weeks,” Reid said. We did many tests during our last National Camp including Yo Yo Test. Our goal is to prepare ourselves in the current camp and prepare ourselves for the upcoming competitions.

Hockey India on Saturday announced the 33-member Indian Men’s Hockey Team for the National Coaching Camp starting from January 5 at the Sports Authority of India (Sai) Center in Bangalore.

Players selected for the coaching camp will report to head coach Graham Reid on January 5 at the camp. According to the SOPs of Sai and Hockey India, prospective teams will have to go through a mandatory quarantine period before starting training.

Hockey India is currently in touch with various countries regarding the tour of the men’s team. Captain Manpreet has said that a practice match before the Tokyo Olympics is a must.

Manpreet said, “We are very excited to be returning to the International C ++ ++++++++++++++++++++++++++. Before the Olympics, we want to play against the international team. Having a few matches against good teams will help us in preparing for the Olympics.

He said, we have practiced hard during the last few months and raised the level of our game. If we play at the Olympics in July to our full potential then we will definitely be able to make our country proud. To win the medal, we have to come to the Olympics with clear thinking.
