Warner will play in third test match: Penn

Sydney, 6 January (IANS) Australian Test team captain Tim Paine has said opener David Warner will take on the field against India in the third Test match starting at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) on Thursday.

Warner did not play the first two Tests due to injury in the second ODI played in November.

Penn, speaking to the media on Wednesday morning, said that it is clear that Warner will play and there are some discussions that should have taken place earlier. Warner is a great player. He brings immense energy and instills confidence in the people around him.

He said, if he comes and plays his game then he puts pressure on the opposition team. Whether they are playing against anyone. When Warner is there we are a great team member because he runs. They save our middle order. We have Marnash Labushan, Steve Smith, and when bowlers get tired, it is beneficial for us to have them. Warner plays a big role for us and he plays well throughout the year.

Penn said that Warner brings a lot of energy to the team and makes an impact on the team.

Penn said, he is the kind of player you want in the team. They have a lot to do. He is very energetic. Are quite professional and I always like to play with them.

The four-Test series is currently 1–1.
