Bangkok, 14 January (IANS). India’s leading women’s badminton player Saina Nehwal lost in the second round of the Thailand Open here.
With Saina’s defeat, India’s challenge in the women’s singles of the tournament is over.
Saina, the world’s 20th ranked player, has been named local player Busanan O. Defeated 23–21, 21–14, 21–16. The match lasted 68 minutes.
It was the seventh match between the two teams till date. 12th ranked Busanan has won four matches while Saina has had three matches.
In the women’s singles, in addition to Saina, World Champion PV Sindhu also presented her challenge but lost in the first round.
