Olympic-1972 Village Mayor Walther Trager died at age 91

Berlin, 1 January (IANS). Walther Troger, an honorary member of the International Cricket Committee (IOC), died at the age of 92. He was the Mayor of the Olympic Village in Munich in 1972. He also spoke to the militant group to free the Israeli players.

Troger also served as chairman of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Germany from 1992 to 2002. He was also the Secretary of NOC from 1970 to 1992.

He was the man who participated as a sports officer in 27 editions of the Olympics. He was Chef de Mission in eight editions of the Winter Olympics from 1976 to 2002.

IOC President Thomas Bak said, Trogar has contributed well to the IOC, first as a sports director and then as a member and honorary member. I have known him as one of the best sports persons. We first met in 1970. Then he was the General Secretary of NOC and I was a sportsman.
