Odisha opened the win by defeating the Blasters 4-2

Bombolim (Goa), 7 January (IANS). Odisha FC also finally won the seventh season of Hero Indian Super League (ISL). Odisha registered their first win of the season, beating the Kerala Blasters 4-2 at the GMC Stadium in Bombolim on Thursday.

This is Odisha’s first win in nine matches. He also has six defeats and two draws in his account. He has amassed a total of five points so far and is still at the bottom of the 11 teams table. On the other hand, the Blasters have suffered a fifth defeat in nine matches this season. He has six points and is ranked 10th.

The first half of this match between the two booby teams was 2–1 in favor of Odisha FC. Although the Kerala Blasters took the lead in the seventh minute, Odisha not only managed to equalize with the help of goals in the 22nd and 42nd minutes but also took the lead before the whistle of half time. The 22nd minute goal was however on-goal.

The first goal of the match was scored by Jordan Murray. Rahul KP also played a role in this goal. Defending the goal on a freekick, Odisha FC goalkeeper Arshdeep Singh Rahul could not hold the header of KP properly and the ball went to Murray. Murray gave his team the lead while scoring a mistake.

Odisha bounced back to score this goal and finally got success in the 22nd minute. This was the result of round deflection. Diego Mauricio’s shot deflected from Jickson Singh into the post and thus Odisha equalized with Jickson’s unearned suicide goal.

The equalizer suddenly gave new energy to Odisha and he started attacking continuously. However, he did not see success. It looked like both teams would go 1–1 at half time but in the 42nd minute, captain Steven Taylor gave his team a 2–1 lead. The goal came on a freekick taken by Jelly M.

Jerry had a good chance to give Odisha a two-goal lead in the 47th minute, but he missed it. Three minutes later, however, Diego Mauricio scored with the help of Jerry to put his team ahead 3–1. He did not let the best pass that Jerry gave to Wright Flank to Diego.

In the 59th minute, Kerala Blasters made two changes. However, he did not get the advantage and Diego scored another fine goal to put Odisha 4–1 and almost three points. Diego scored his second goal of the match on a pass to Nandkumar Sekar.

In the 63rd minute Arshdeep made an excellent save, preventing the Blasters from scoring the second goal. Similarly in the 65th minute, Blasters goalkeeper Albino Gomes blocked Diego from a hat-trick. In the 73rd minute Arshdeep once again looked ready and cleared his team’s lead by clearing Murray’s attack.

The Blasters made two changes in the 77th minute. He got the advantage in the 79th minute when Super-Sub Gary Hooper tried his best to return the Blasters to the goal. Hooper scored this goal on Murray’s cross. His shot was deflected from captain Taylor and hit the net. In the 89th minute Arshdeep made another defense, preventing the Blasters from scoring the third goal and giving his team the first three points with the first win.
