Moin Ali will not play in the first Test against Sri Lanka

Colombo, 10 January (IANS). Due to England cricket team all-rounder Moin Ali Kovid-19 positive, he will not be able to play in the first Test match to be played on Thursday in Sri Lanka. Head coach Chris Silverwood has confirmed this.

Moeen, 33, was found corona positive after arriving at the Hambantota airport on January 4 after visiting Sri Lanka and has been in self-isolation for 10 days.

Chris Woakes also came in contact with Moin and was also in self-isolation. But now he has come out of isolation. But Silverwood says it is difficult for Vox to prepare until the first test.

Silverwood said, Moeen will not be available for the first test, as he is still in isolation and not in good condition. He is physically good, but the medical team is investigating him.

Vox had completed his self-isolation on Saturday and also joined the team and will now take part in training with the team on Monday.

Moin is England’s first cricketer, to be found infected with Kovid-19. He played his last Test match for England in the Ashes series in 2019.

The two-match Test series will be played in Gaul. The first test will take place from 14 January. After finishing Sri Lanka tour, the English team will reach India on 26 January and will play a series of four Tests, three ODIs and five T20 matches.
