Syed Mushtaq Ali set a world record in the match between Meghalaya and Mizoram in the tournament. Meghalaya captain Puneet Bisht scored an unbeaten 146 in just 51 balls with the help of six fours and 17 sixes. Puneet recorded his name on a record due to this explosive performance.

He is the fourth highest run-scorer in T20 cricket. He surpassed Sri Lanka’s Dasun Shanaka’s record. Shanaka scored an unbeaten 131 in 2016 while playing for Sinhalese Sports Club. India’s wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant remained unbeaten after scoring 128 runs at number four. Pant played this game against Hyderabad in the 2018 IPL.

Puneet’s unbeaten 146 runs is the highest score made by a wicketkeeper in T20 cricket. Puneet beat KL Rahul in this regard. Rahul scored 131 not out while playing for Punjab in the 2020 IPL. With this, Puneet hit 17 sixes to match Chris Gayle’s record. He is joint first with Gayle in terms of maximum sixes in a match. Gayle had hit 17 sixes of the Pune Warriors in 2013.

Puneet Bisht holds the record for the most sixes in an innings by an Indian. This record was previously with Shreyas Iyer. He hit 15 sixes in 145 runs against Sikkim in 2019.

Puneet’s stormy performance in the match against Mizoram gave Meghalaya a target of 230 for six in 20 overs. Mizoram scored 100 runs and Meghalaya won the match by 130 runs.
