Djokovic, Nadal and Serena will play in the exhibition tournament before the Australian Open

Canberra, 9 January (IANS). The world’s top tennis players will play in the exhibition tournament in South Australia before the Australian Open starting on February 8.

World No-1, Serbia’s Novak Djokovic, Spain’s Rafael Nadal and 23-time Grand Slam winner American’s Serena Williams will be quarantined in Adelaide before taking part in the exhibition tournament on 29 January. This exhibition tournament will be an official preview before the Australian Open.

According to the report of the news agency Xinhua, the one-day tournament will be played in Adelaide, the capital of South Australia. A total of eight players will participate in it, with the top three players in the men’s and women’s categories. Dominique Thiem, Simona Halep and Naomi Osaka will also participate. The remaining players will be announced later.

Tennis Australia said in a statement on Saturday that the group of international players will start coming here from 14 January and they will remain in the mandatory 14-day quarantine.

After this exhibition tournament, the Australian Open will be played at Melbourne Park from 8 to 21 February.
