On the third day, India took a lead of 131 runs for 326 runs in the first innings. After this, Umesh Yadav gave the first blow to Australia in the fourth over. He sent Joe Burns back for 4 runs. After this, Umesh was injured while throwing the eighth and fourth over of the innings.

A medical team came into the field after Umesh was injured. But after a while Umesh limped and went to the dressing room. His remaining over was completed by Mohammad Siraj.

Prior to the series, India’s fast bowler Ishant Sharma was ruled out due to injury. Fast bowler Mohammed Shami was ruled out of the rest of the series following an injury on the ball in the first Test.

Similarly, India’s headache may increase due to Umesh Yadav’s injury. India have two more matches to play after the Melbourne Test.
