Bengaluru FC removed coach Cuadort from his post (Lead-1)

Bengaluru, 6 January (IANS). Bengaluru FC, the former Indian Super League (ISL) champions, on Wednesday decided to part with their head coach Carles Cuadort. Bengaluru has posted a hat-trick of defeats in the current seventh season of the ISL.

As reported by ESPN, Bengaluru, captained by Sunil Chhetri, said in a statement that it has decided to part with its coach Cuadort. The club said that Naushad Musa, who has been with the club for the last four seasons, will be the interim head coach of the team with immediate effect.

Bengaluru FC director Parth Jindal said, after intense consultations with the management, we feel that the club will have to move in a new direction, one where Bengaluru FC’s performance gets to revisit. In the past when we enjoyed success with Carles, we felt that this season we were far from our true philosophy and so we had to come to that conclusion.

Former champions Bangalore FC lost 1-3 to Mumbai City in the seventh season of the ISL on Tuesday. This is Bengaluru FC’s third consecutive loss in three matches and third in nine matches this season. The team has 12 points and is at number five in the table.

This was Cuadort’s fifth season with Bengaluru FC. Of these five, he was two seasons as an assistant to head coach Albert Roca. Under Kuadort’s guidance, Bengaluru’s team became the first and only team in ISL history to win the ISL title in 2018-19, topping the table.

“I am very appreciative of the club for giving me the opportunity to be the head coach,” Cuadort said. I want to thank the owners and management who have a clear vision. Players who have always been under my guidance, staff I’ve worked with and who have stood by me for five seasons. I wish the club all the best for the entire season and beyond. This club and its people will always be in my heart.

Naushad Musa, who has been with the club for the last four seasons, will now be the interim head coach of Bengaluru FC with immediate effect and for the first time under his guidance, Bengaluru will face SC East Bengal on Saturday in the seventh season of the ISL.
