Australia got a lead of 276 runs

Sydney, 10 January (IANS) Australia took a total of 276 runs to take 182 for four in their second innings till lunch time on Sunday, the fourth day of the third Test match with India at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG).

Stive Smith, who scored a brilliant century in the first innings, is unbeaten on 58 and Cameron Green on 20 runs. Smith has hit five fours in 155 balls while Green has hit three fours in 58 balls. The two have now shared a 34-run partnership for the fifth wicket.

In the first session, India took the wickets of Marnus Labushan (73) and Matthew Wade (4). Both wickets were taken by Navdeep Saini, playing his first Test.

The hosts had scored 103 for two in their second innings by the end of the third day’s play. Labushan 47 and Smith returned unbeaten on 29 runs. The hosts had a lead of 94 runs on the basis of the first innings, so their total lead to stumps on the third day was 197 runs.

On the fourth day, Smith and Labushan began to play around. Labushain, who scored 91 in the first innings, completed his 10th half-century. For this, he faced 82 balls and hit six fours. Smith was playing as fast as he was scoring.

Marnes, however, was caught behind the wicket off debutant Navdeep Saini for a total of 138 on a personal total of 73. In his 118-ball innings, Marnus hit nine fours.

Smith was followed by wicketkeeper Mathay Wade, but Saini did not let him get a foothold and caught Saha on a personal total of four and gave the hosts a fourth blow with a total of 148.
