Australia finds success spell against Pujara

Sydney, 9 January (IANS) Australian bowlers are testing the patience of Indian batsman Cheteshwar Pujara in the current Test series. Fast bowler Pat Cummins has revealed that he plans to distract and frustrate Pujara.

Cummins took four wickets for 29 runs against India in the first innings of the third Test and this also includes Pujara’s wicket. Pujara last scored 521 runs at an average of 74.5 in 2018-19 and was the man of the series.

But this time he has scored only 113 runs in five innings and he has an average of 22.6.

Cummins said after the third day’s play ended, you know it’s going to be a bit difficult, so you keep as much control of the scoreboard as you want. If we continue to bowl well we are not far away.

He said, we had planned for the series that he would make it as difficult as possible for him to score runs. He played 200 balls or 300 balls, we will challenge him by putting a good ball. Luckily the scheme has been successful so far.

Cummins said, “I got some help from the pitch today. But you know that he (Pujara) is a player that you have to bowl a lot.

The fast bowler said, “At the start of the day’s play, I thought we would end the day bowling.” We are in a good position with a lead of about 200 runs and eight wickets left.
