Australia at the top, India at number two (lead-1)

Sydney, 11 January (IANS) Australia and India hold the top two spots in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) table after the draw of the third Test match played at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG).

Indian batsmen pulled off the match on Monday on the fifth and last day of the third Test match played against Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG).

“An incredible match in Sydney has helped both teams retain the top two spots in the ICC World Test Championship table,” the ICC tweeted after the match. There is a difference of 0.2 percent between India and New Zealand.

The ICC recently implemented the percentage system by removing the points system, as Kovid-19 could not result in too many matches.

New Zealand scored a maximum of 120 points after a clean sweep of the two-match Test series 2–0 against Pakistan. Apart from this, he also defeated West Indies 2–0 in a two-match Test series.

The Kiwi team now sits third with 0.70 percentage points. India is second with 70.2 percentage points, while Australia is at the first place with 73.8 percentage points.

At the end of the league, the top two WTC teams will play in the final to be held at Lord’s in June this year.

After the third Test draw of the four-match Test series between India and Australia, both teams are 1-1 in the series. The fourth and final Test of the series will be played at the Gabba ground in Brisbane from Friday.
