ATK Mohun Bagan faces Northeast United (preview)

Fatorda (Goa), 2 January (IANS). Defending champion ATK Mohun Bagan concluded the year by topping the seventh season of the Hero Indian Super League (ISL). But now the team has a challenge to maintain itself at the top and to face this challenge on Sunday, they have to face Northeast United at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Fatorda.

Mumbai City is second after ATK Mohun Bagan and is just one point short of ATK. Coach Antonio Lopez Habas’ team’s defense is strong, but will have to keep their strikers ahead to score as many goals as possible. The team has scored only three goals in the last four matches.

ATK Mohun Bagan had to play a goalless draw from Chennaiyin FC in their last match. Despite this, Habas is not worried about it.

Habas said, “I worry when we don’t have chances to score.” In football, you can score goals in an instant. Earlier three matches were not possible. Conditions vary for up to 90 minutes.

The magic of ATKMB strikers Roy Krishna has been soaring head-on so far this season. Krishna has scored in four of ATKMB’s five wins.

Habas, however, maintains that the responsibility of scoring the goal is not on one individual but collective responsibility. “Not only Roy Krishna but I have to review the performance of the entire team,” he said. And the performance of the entire team is hundred percent.

On the other hand, the Northeast team has derailed after making a great start to the season and the team has not won a single in the last four matches. Coach Gerrard Nuss is upfront that the ATKMB challenge is difficult to face.

Nus said, they are one of the toughest teams and there is no question about it. we are looking. We knew they would be at the top because they have really amazing players. They have been doing consistently well over the years. He retained a number of players, which thus helps in a small tournament.

Ghana striker Quess Appiah is not scheduled to play in this match for Northeast.
